Saul of Tarsus is a Bible based pixel style RPG that follows the life and early ministry of the apostle Paul. The game begins just before his conversion on the road to Damascus and follows him into the city where he meets Ananius and begins his ministry.
A continuation of the story is currently in development following Saul on his journey to Jerusalem, Tarsus, Antioch and Cyprus. The story of Saul of Tarsus will conclude in Acts 13 where Saul is first referred to as Paul.
Saul of Tarsus uses elements of classic turn based RPGs to simulate theological debates between the player and other characters in the game. As Saul continues his journey he learns various ministry techniques, each with unique effects based real life evangelistic approaches.
One of Saul's most effective techniques that he learns first after becoming a believer is a move called Testimony, where he shares his own personal experience with God. This is a move that only becomes more effective as he progresses in his ministry. Another move learned early on is Vulnerability, which trades self image for an increase in Faith and Resolve. Humble nature is a status move that triples Saul’s Defense for 3 turns. These and various other techniques can be learned throughout the game as Saul continues to grow in his newfound Faith.
